Bukittinggi is one of the largest cities in West Sumatra. It is located near the volcanous mount Singgalang and mount Marapi. The central landmark in Bukittinggi is “Jam Gadang”, it is the clock tower built by Dutch in 1926 with stylized roof, standing in the town square.

If you want to refresh your mind, you should visit Bukittinggi. It is a popular city with many interesting tourism places. Such as, Sianok canyon and Japanese caves. Japanese caves is a network of underground bunkors and tunnels built by Japanese during World War II.

Beside that, there is Bundo Kanduang park. It is a park including a replica of “Rumah Gadang” used as a museum of Minangkabau culture and zoo. The Dutch hilltop out post Fort De Kock connect to the zoo by the Limpapeh pedestrian overpass.

Also there are “Pasar atas” and “Pasar bawah”. They are traditional markets in downtown where you can buy many kinds of souvenir. That is all about Bukitinggi. So, you should not miss to visit Bukittinggi, “The Heart of Highlands”.
